As we were unable to proceed with our initial plans to introduce an ‘artist-in-residence’ in the heart of Joo Chiat, we had invited the members of the public to bring home a piece of (late) Ng Eng Teng’s home/studio with them.

Our hopes are to share a tangible piece of our rich heritage in Singapore with our community. On the day of event, the true ‘gotong royong’ spirit was exhibited through the engagement of different people coming together to save what’s left of the wooden house; when a window was removed, everybody cheered together!

Although it was a really heartbreaking moment for many who were there, we knew that the purpose was not to destroy our heritage, but to cherish what was left of the place together with our family members and friends.

On the day of event (29th November 2012), there were more than 158 participants who turned up, and we would like to thank all of them who made time to visit the place. Do remember the stories that were shared during your visit to (late) Ng Eng Teng’s studio and keep them alive by sharing a piece of (late) Ng Eng Teng’s life with your family members, friends and our future generations!

The salvaged materials (wooden, doors, windows, walls, stepts etc) of the house will continue to serve as a reminder that we’ve made it possible together! Keep it close with you, and it could potentially be a family heirloom to share many wonderful stories with your future generations! Passing on our family stories are one of the best ways we can ensure that there will be a sustainable appreciation for our unique culture and heritage in Singapore.

We’ve been reported by international news such as Fox News, The Herald Sun, Bloomberg and Business Week of Bloomberg and many others to serve one of the best airport-restaurant food around the World!

The Singapore Writer’s Festival has finally concluded a segment on the ‘Dramatized Presentation’ of the reading on ‘The Chair’.

We would like to thank the National Arts Council for allowing us to support the festival by producing Desmond Sim’s script on ‘The Chair’ at the Peranakan Museum (3rd and 8th of Nov 2012).

Last but not least, we would like to thank the entire team for working very hard for the past month to get the performance up and going!

Feel free to watch and share the recorded video of the final reading at the Peranakan Museum. Do note that ‘The Chair’ will be produced as an actual performance in a community theater in Singapore next year! We’ll keep you guys updated when that happens

We would like to thank the Singapore Management University (SMU) for inviting us to conduct a workshop with the students from Northbrooks Secondary.

The session was a great bonding opportunity where the students get to rediscover what makes them Singaporean together with their grandparents.

As it is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility to ensure that there is a sustainable appreciation for our Straits culture and heritage, we’ve held 5 photography sessions with the members of our public (Singapore) this year!

During our photography sessions, we’ve guided our participants around the very first Heritage Town in Singapore. We had a great time ‘makaning’ and getting to know each other better. But above all else, we hope that our participants brought back with them an understanding about our shared culture and heritage in Singapore.

The award which we had received will continue to serve as a reminder to us that our efforts to promote our culture as a form of sustainable business model will not be in vain.

As we venture towards our endeavours to  serve our communities better, we want to thank all our supporters and the board members of the SOE for voting us in as an honouree of this year’s SOE 2011.

We’ve been reported by Reuters to serve one of the best Airport food in Changi Airport.

Staying committed to promote our Straits culture and heritage has brought us overseas again for another exciting showcase of our beautiful way of life.

The ‘Singapore Night in Moscow 2011′ successfully concluded, and the positive reviews have given us much encouragement as a cultural showcase to the World.

We would like to take this opportunity once again to thank the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Singapore Tourism Board for allowing us to represent Singapore in this meaningful event.
